Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should I wear on the tour?
So the number one requirement for my tours is comfortable walking shoes. This is a walking tour in old Dubai, so comfort is key if you want your feet to wander happily. Shoes aside, I'd also suggest light clothing, particularly during summer. Would skip jeans!
2. When should I arrive for my tour?
At least 15 minutes prior to the tour start time as traffic can be quite unpredictable. Prior to the tour, check Google Maps to estimate how long you'll need from your location to the meeting point. If you're late for whatever reason, please let me know as earliest as possible, so you can catch up with us in our first stop outlined in the confirmation email. Also, please note that there aren't many, if at all, street signs to lead visitors around. So I can't stress this enough... please arrive early! :)
3. Won’t it be too hot during summer?
Yes. Dubai weather during the summer (June to September), can be quite hot, and to top it off, also humid. But, it's nothing that we can avoid altogether. Plus, the city is more than equipped with its many air conditioned sights and shaded spots. So put your game face on, and make sure you keep hydrated, and we'll embrace the heat together.
4. What if I can’t make it?
Hey. Like I said, these things happen. Don't fret. We'll work on finding you another wander date. Please do let me know in advance though so someone else can wander in your spot. Please do review the Refunds and Exchanges Policy in full in light of such situations.
5. What if I'm a solo traveler?
That's nothing to worry about whatsoever. Whether it's just you and I, or with another group of wanderers, I promise that we're all going to become great friends. My tours attract a lot of single travelers, as well as couples and small groups of friends. It's a fantastic way to meet and learn from people all over the world.
6. Are the tours baby/child-friendly?
The summer stuffiness can be irritating for babies and very young children. Also, the tour can be quite long for them to be out and about, even if in strollers. The tours are best suited for children between the ages of 7 and 11. They are also complimentary for up to 2 children between those ages per family.
7. Are the tours disabled-friendly?
Unfortunately, the standard tour can be difficult for some disabilities, as the tour involves getting on a traditional wooden boat. Please contact me directly to discuss the suitability or if a private alternative tour is necessary.
8. Is there anything not included in the tour?
Great question. There are a few things which are not included in the price of the tour. Transportation to and from the meeting and farewell points, unless specified, is not included. The cost of any souvenirs and snacks or beverages that you purchase along the way is also not included.
9. Will I be able to do the tours during the month of Ramadan?
Definitely. Stay tuned for the 2019 Ramadan tours. Also, I will ensure to factor in a few water drinking stops to keep hydrated so don't fret!
