"I want people to really see my Dubai"

— The Telegraph

Living here does not mean you want to do the tourist circuit again. So hand them to me for the day.

Your family is in town, you have a full week of meetings, and you have already been up the Burj Khalifa 3 times, the last one under protest. They get a licensed guide who has called this city home for 30+ years, not a rushed weekend version of you. You get your work done, then you join them for dinner at the final stop and take full credit.

I cover the classics: How did all this get built? Is the sand original? With stories that'll stick.

We start in Old Dubai with burlap sacks of cardamom and saffron at the Spice Souk, shopkeepers who greet guests like neighbors, and the Gold Souk's glittering windows.

We'll hop on a wooden abra across Dubai Creek, then drop into a family-run Perfume Atelier where they'll craft a bespoke vial just for them, name on the label, memory in the bottle.

A light bite stop keeps them fueled without spoiling dinner. Then it's shoes off for a Jumeirah Mosque visit, with space for questions about faith, community, and daily rituals.

Name on the label, memory in the bottle.

By late afternoon, water calls: a private 60-minute Dubai Marina cruise with jaw-dropping skyline views and those famous man-made islands stretching along the coast.

We close at Souk Madinat Jumeirah where lanterns warm the canals and our abra ride serves front-row Burj Al Arab views. The day ends where you come in. Join your parents at our final stop for an intimate dinner together.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this tour actually for?
You, if you live here and your family is visiting. You have work, you have already done the tourist circuit, and you would rather not spend your annual leave queueing for a viewing deck. I take your parents for the day and hand them back to you at dinner.
How long is the tour and what time does it run?
8 hours, roughly 10:00 to 18:00. I collect your parents from their hotel at 10:00 and hand them back to you at around 18:00 for dinner.
Do I need to come along?
No, and that is rather the point. Most guests are at work. I host a short pre-dinner meet-and-greet at the final stop and settle everyone in, so you arrive to a group that is already relaxed and full of stories.
Is transport included?
Yes. Chauffeured transport throughout, from hotel pick-up to the Madinat Jumeirah drop-off. Nobody is standing on a kerb in August trying to work out a taxi app.
What is included in the price?
Chauffeured transport, all entry fees, 3 boat rides including a private 60-minute Dubai Marina cruise, spice sampling at the souk, a light bite with water, and a bespoke perfume vial blended at a family-run atelier. Dinner itself is not included, since that part is yours.
Is it suitable for older parents?
Yes, and it is built with that in mind. The car does the distance between stops, the pace is unhurried, and there is shade, seating and water throughout. If anyone has mobility concerns, tell me before booking and I will adjust the route.
What should they wear?
Comfortable shoes and breathable clothing. The Jumeirah Mosque visit needs shoulders and knees covered, and a headscarf for the ladies, which I provide on loan. In summer, skip the jeans.
Where does the tour go?
Old Dubai for the Spice and Gold Souks, an abra across Dubai Creek, a family-run perfume atelier, Jumeirah Mosque, a private Dubai Marina cruise, and Souk Madinat Jumeirah for the Burj Al Arab views at golden hour.
Can you make it private or change the itinerary?
Yes. Group tours are capped at 12, and this one is often booked privately for a single family. If your parents have a particular interest, or a knee that objects to stairs, get in touch and I will build the day around it.
What is the change and cancellation policy?
Varies for group and private bookings. Full details appear at checkout and are outlined here.
