1About these terms
These terms apply to all private bookings of the Old Dubai Scavenger Hunt, designed and hosted jointly by Wander With Nada and Frying Pan Adventures. "We", "us" and "our" refer to Wander With Nada and Frying Pan Adventures, including their guides, hosts and team. "You" refers to the person making the booking and to every guest in the group.
The hunt begins with the game briefing and ends with the results ceremony, about 3 hours in total. By booking, the organiser confirms that they have read and accept these terms on behalf of the whole group, and will share them with every guest before the hunt.
2Booking, payment and group size
- All prices are in UAE dirhams (AED) and include VAT, unless stated otherwise.
- A booking is confirmed once the invoice has been paid in full and we have confirmed the date by email.
- The minimum charge is for 20 guests. Groups of fewer than 20 are charged for 20.
- The price includes the game, the hosts and the tastings ordered by the host along the route. Any additional purchases on the day, such as extra food, drinks or souvenirs, are paid for separately.
- Transport to the starting point and from the finish is not included, unless Elite arrival has been added.
- The full list of guest names is required at least 1 week before the hunt date.
3Changes and refunds
The following applies to changes or cancellations requested by the client:
- 21 days or more before the hunt: a refund of 90% of the total paid, or one new date, subject to availability.
- 8 to 21 days before: a new date for a fee of 25% of the original group price, or a refund of 70% of the total paid.
- 7 days or less before: no changes or refunds are possible.
- One date change is permitted per booking, subject to availability.
- If the group size is reduced, the difference is refunded at the same rates: 90% at 21 days or more, 70% at 8 to 21 days, and no refund at 7 days or less. The minimum charge for 20 guests continues to apply.
Refunds exclude any non-refundable payment processing fees. All change requests should be made in writing by email.
4Changes or cancellation by us
- Routes, stops and featured restaurants or shops may change at short notice due to closures, availability or operational reasons. In such cases, we will adapt the game to provide a comparable experience. These changes do not qualify for a refund.
- The host may adjust the game on the day to suit the group's pace, dietary requirements, restaurant seating and similar factors.
- We may need to cancel a hunt due to unforeseen circumstances. If this happens, the client may choose between a full refund and a new date.
5Weather and other disruptions
The hunt takes place outdoors. Heavy rain, strong winds, sandstorms, thunderstorms or official weather warnings may make it unsafe to proceed.
- If the weather is poor on the day, please contact us on the WhatsApp number provided in your game details before setting off, to confirm that the hunt is going ahead.
- If we cancel because of the weather, the client may choose between a full refund and a new date.
- If the weather requires us to stop after the hunt has started, we will refund the unplayed portion, based on the share of the 3 hours not completed and calculated on the price before VAT and processing fees.
- If the hunt goes ahead in light rain, guests are asked to bring their own umbrella or raincoat. Refunds and new dates apply only where we cancel.
- Temperatures in Dubai can be high, even in the cooler months. We recommend comfortable shoes, light clothing, water, a hat and sunscreen. Guests who feel unwell should inform their host immediately.
- The same options apply if the hunt is cancelled due to events beyond our control, such as government directives, public safety closures or other emergencies.
6Eligibility and participation
- The minimum age is 13. Guests under 15 must take part with a parent, guardian or responsible adult from the group, who is responsible for them throughout.
- Participation is voluntary. Each guest is responsible for ensuring that they are physically and mentally able to take part.
- The game is conducted in English. Guests agree to follow the host's instructions.
- If the host considers that a guest's behaviour or physical condition puts their own safety or that of the group at risk, the host may ask the guest to stop taking part, without a refund.
7Walking and the route
The hunt is played on foot. Teams walk through busy souks, narrow lanes and public streets for most of the 3 hours, including uneven ground, kerbs, steps and some areas with traffic.
- Each guest confirms that they are able and willing to walk the full route for the full duration.
- Each guest is responsible for their own safety while walking, including care with footing and around vehicles, carts, boats and other pedestrians. Teams are asked to walk rather than run at all times.
- Any condition that affects walking should be shared at the time of booking. We will do our best to assist, but cannot guarantee that every part of the route will be suitable.
- We plan the route with safety in mind, but the hunt takes place in public areas that are largely outside our control. We are not responsible for any illness, injury, accident, loss, damage or theft caused by third parties during the hunt.
8Food, allergies and cross-contamination
- All tastings are halal, in line with UAE regulations. No pork or alcohol is served.
- All tastings are provided by independent restaurants, cafés, shops and market stalls. We do not source the ingredients or prepare the food, and cannot accept responsibility for any illness or injury caused by food or drink from these establishments.
- Dietary requirements, allergies and relevant medical conditions must be shared at the time of booking, using the booking form.
- On the day, guests with allergies should remind their host before eating or drinking, so that the host can check with the vendor.
- We will make every reasonable effort to arrange alternatives, but cannot guarantee substitutions.
Cross-contamination. Tastings are prepared in commercial kitchens that handle nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, sesame, seafood and other allergens. We cannot guarantee that any item is free from allergens, and accept no liability for allergic reactions or cross-contamination.
- Guests accept the risks associated with eating and drinking along the route, including choking and allergic reactions.
- Where an allergy or medical condition is severe, we may ask the guest not to take part, and will refund their share of the price in full.
9Illness and group safety
- Guests showing symptoms of cold, flu or other infectious illness, such as a cough, fever or sore throat, may be asked by the host not to take part. The timings in section 3 apply.
- Guests acknowledge that infections can be passed on by other guests, staff and members of the public, and that we cannot guarantee against exposure.
10Transport: the abra and Elite arrival
Abra crossing. The route includes a crossing of Dubai Creek by abra, the traditional wooden water taxi. Abras are operated by independent third parties, not by Wander With Nada or Frying Pan Adventures.
- Guests are asked to follow the instructions of the abra operator and the host, remain seated during the crossing, and take care when boarding and leaving, as the boat and quay may move and can be slippery.
- Guests who are unable or prefer not to take the abra should let us know at the time of booking.
- We accept no liability for any accident, injury, delay, loss or damage caused by the abra operator or occurring during the crossing.
Elite arrival add-on.
- Elite arrival transport is provided by a licensed third-party transport company, booked by us on the client's behalf. Neither Wander With Nada nor Frying Pan Adventures operates the vehicles.
- We accept no liability for any accident, injury, delay, traffic, breakdown, loss or damage caused by the transport company or its drivers.
- Guests should be ready at the agreed pick-up time and location. Late departure may shorten the hunt, as set out in section 11.
- Guests must follow the driver's instructions and wear seatbelts at all times, as required by UAE law.
11Late arrival and no-shows
Late arrival. We will wait up to 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. The game will still finish at the scheduled time, so a late start results in a shorter game with fewer clues and stops. No refund or additional time is given for the time missed.
No-shows. If the group has not arrived within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time, the booking is treated as a no-show and the hunt is cancelled, with no refund or new date. This applies whether or not we have been informed of the delay.
Individual guests.
- Guests who arrive after the game has started may join their team along the route, and are responsible for locating it. The host is unable to take calls, repeat the briefing or hold tastings for late arrivals.
- Guests who do not attend, or who leave before the end, are not entitled to a refund, a new date or a transfer to another booking. The full booking price remains payable.
12Conduct
- The souks are working markets and residential neighbourhoods. Guests are asked to be courteous to shopkeepers, residents, other visitors and one another.
- Guests should ask permission before photographing people or their shops, and should not enter private property, homes or places of worship unless directed by the host.
- We may ask any guest whose behaviour puts others at risk or causes disruption to leave the hunt, without a refund.
13Medical emergencies
- Each guest authorises us to arrange, through medical personnel of our choice, first aid, medical assistance, emergency medical services and transport to a medical facility where we believe this is needed. This authorisation does not place an obligation on us to provide such assistance, transport or services.
- Any costs of medical treatment or transport are the responsibility of the guest.
- Guests should inform their host immediately if they or anyone in their team feels unwell or is injured.
- Emergency numbers in the UAE: Police 999, Ambulance 998, Civil Defence (fire) 997.
- We recommend that all guests hold comprehensive health and personal accident insurance.
14Personal belongings and game materials
- Guests are responsible for their personal belongings throughout the hunt. We are not responsible for any items lost, damaged or stolen.
- Game materials provided on the day should be returned at the end of the hunt. Lost or damaged items may be charged at replacement cost.
15Photography
Our hosts may take photographs during the hunt to share with the group afterwards and to use on our website and social media. Guests who prefer not to appear may opt out by letting us know before the hunt and informing their host on the day.
16Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wander With Nada and Frying Pan Adventures, including their owners, partners, guides, hosts and staff, accept no liability for any injury, illness, death, accident, loss, damage, delay or expense suffered by any guest in connection with the hunt, the booking, the tastings, any transport or any third party.
Each guest takes part at their own risk and accepts the risks described in these terms, including those relating to weather, walking in public areas, traffic, food and drink, allergic reactions, choking, other guests and members of the public. On behalf of themselves, their heirs and personal representatives, each guest releases Wander With Nada and Frying Pan Adventures from all claims arising from their participation.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UAE law.
17Personal information
The details provided on the booking form, including guest names and dietary requirements, are used only to plan and run the hunt and to send the invoice and game details. They are shared only with those who need them to deliver the day, such as the hosts, the tasting venues for allergy checks and, where Elite arrival is booked, the transport company.
18Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page on the date of booking applies to that booking.
