Here is what makes the end of the year special around here: everything lands at once. From October through December the UAE stacks its calendar sky high, arena comedy, stadium-filling pop stars, homegrown festivals and a Grand Prix full of concerts, all crammed into a handful of weeks. So many good nights compete for the same few weekends that the real skill is choosing early.

TL;DR: The rest of 2026 in the UAE is one very good night out after another. Abu Dhabi Comedy Season from 11 October, Nancy Ajram and Blue back to back on 24 and 25 October, Mariah Carey doing Christmas properly on 12 December, Katy Perry seeing in 2027 at Atlantis, The Palm, and many more. Book the ones you love now, while the good tickets and the good prices are still in the room. Future you will be insufferably smug about it.

Abu Dhabi Comedy Season is back, and it is the easiest yes on the list

If your calendar has room for exactly one thing this autumn, make it the one where you leave with your cheeks aching. Abu Dhabi Comedy Season struts back onto Yas Island from 11 October all the way to the end of January at Etihad Arena, and this year's lineup is not messing about. Russell Peters, Mo Amer, Maz Jobrani and Morgan Jay were the first names in, and the list has kept growing ever since, because apparently one arena of world-class comedians was not quite enough.

Comedy is the great low-maintenance night out. No album to revise beforehand, no outfit crisis, no lyrics to mumble through. Just you, a very funny person, and two hours of the good kind of face pain. Do it properly: dinner on Yas first, the show after, and the drive home spent badly re-telling every joke to the people who were sitting right next to you for it.

The Arabic nights. This is the part of the season I am most excited about, because it is the part that sounds like home. Moroccan comedian Amine Radi plays on 19 November, switching between French and Arabic the way half of North Africa does mid-sentence. Phones go into pouches for his show, which is honestly a gift. Egyptian comedian Mina Nader follows on 22 November with an Arabic show built almost entirely out of conversations with the audience, so sit near the front only if you are ready to become material. And Mohamed Helmy is back on 24 November for the third year running with Plus One, a brand-new special in Arabic (ages 12 and up).

The new English names. NEMR, the Lebanese-American comic who turns family expectations into arena material, brings Rampant Disorder on 22 November as part of MBC's Wagef tour. Aries Spears, eight seasons of MADtv and an impression for every celebrity you can name, takes the late slot on 21 November. Then the season keeps going into the new year. Kevin Bridges brings his Glaswegian storytelling back to Abu Dhabi on 9 January, and 31 January is a double bill: Whitney Cummings making her UAE debut, and Liverpool's Paul Smith, whose whole act is built on chatting to the front row, on his first Etihad Arena date.

If you can only pick one, pick by language, not by fame. The big English names fill the arena, but the Arabic nights are where the room starts to feel like a family majlis that happens to seat thousands.

Insider Tip

The big names sell the big room quickly. Etihad Arena is vast, but the good blocks for someone like Peters or Mo Amer go quietly and fast, and dates drop act by act. Watch the Yas Island page and pounce the moment your favourite is announced. Hesitation is how you end up in the row where the performer is technically a rumour.

Nancy Ajram brings 2000s Arab pop royalty to Coca-Cola Arena

The last weekend of October is a nostalgia sandwich, and Nancy Ajram is the first glorious bite. She takes over Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on 24 October, and for a very large chunk of this region she is less a pop star and more a personality trait. If "Ah W Noss" and "Ya Tabtab" shaped your entire adolescence, you already know every word, every ad-lib, every dramatic pause, and there are few things this city does better than a full arena belting Arabic pop back at the stage like the honour of the family depends on it.

Coca-Cola Arena is indoors, blissfully air-conditioned and planted right in the middle of City Walk, so dinner before and a wander after are basically compulsory. Bring the friends who will happily lose their voices with you.

Blue, live at Expo City, for everyone who was eleven in 2002

The very next night, the nostalgia swaps decades and accents. Blue, gloriously all four of them, Antony Costa, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe, land in Dubai on Sunday 25 October at Jubilee Park in Expo City, on their 25th anniversary tour. Yes, twenty-five years. Yes, that noise you just heard was an entire generation realising exactly how old it is.

This one is pure, uncut nostalgia and I am completely here for it. If "All Rise" and "One Love" once lived on your bedroom wall or your very first MP3 player, this is a two-hour time machine with a key change. The amphitheatre is open-air and built for a proper singalong, and a Sunday show is a gentle way to be emotionally ambushed by your teenage playlist before the working week starts. Round up the group, wear something you can throw shapes in, and let 2002 have the floor.

Hans Zimmer returns to Abu Dhabi: The Next Level

You know the moment, the low, aching swell in Interstellar, the Gotham dread of The Dark Knight, the drums that turn Dune into something you feel rather than watch. Hans Zimmer brings The Next Level to Etihad Arena on 13 November 2026, a full-scale production built around the scores that already sound bigger than the films they came from.

Expect a full orchestra and band, not a man alone at a keyboard, with immersive visuals designed to match the scale of the sound. Zimmer has done this in the capital before and the room hasn't quite recovered so treat this as round two, not a rerun.

Tickets start from Dhs245. Multiple Oscar and Grammy wins tend to sell rooms out fast, so book here before the good seats go.

Pro Tip

If you have been hoarding Marriott Bonvoy points, this is a very good place to spend them. Marriott Bonvoy Moments auctions packages for Etihad Arena shows, including Hans Zimmer, Andrea Bocelli and several Abu Dhabi Comedy Season nights. Each package is 2 seats in the Marriott Bonvoy Loge, with prime views of the stage and complimentary snacks and drinks, so you skip the concession queue entirely. Bids on the comedy nights start from around 10,000 points. The catch: bidding closes weeks before each show (21 October for Hans Zimmer), so check the page now, not the week of.

Trevor Noah brings brand-new stand-up to Dubai Opera

And because the universe knows exactly how to test your willpower, Trevor Noah is back in the UAE in the thick of it all. The former Daily Show host plays Dubai Opera for 4 nights, 25 26, 28, and 29 November, with a brand-new hour of material he has not brought here before.

Insider Tip

Presale opens Monday 3 August and general sale is Wednesday 5 August, both at midday, through Live Nation. Four nights in a room this size means limited seats and a fanbase that has sold him out here before, so treat the presale as your real shot. Set an alarm, have your Live Nation login ready, and pounce at 12pm sharp.

Andrea Bocelli, the elegant night right before the race

Now for the grown-up, put-on-actual-trousers evening of the season. Andrea Bocelli brings his 30th anniversary Romanza tour to Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on 2 December, the night before Grand Prix weekend roars into gear. This is the kind of concert that quietly rearranges your insides: one of the most recognisable voices on earth, in a room built to carry every last note of it.

If you are already Abu Dhabi-bound for the F1, open the weekend with this and close it with race-day chaos.

The Formula 1 after-race concerts: four nights for the price of a wristband

Here is a magic trick the Grand Prix does not shout about nearly enough. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 December, and the part that matters even if you cannot tell a chicane from a chickpea is this: every four-day race ticket comes with general admission to every single after-race concert. One purchase, four nights of music at Etihad Live (the venue you probably still call Etihad Park), headliners included.

The lineup has filled in fast since the first names dropped. Zara Larsson and Lewis Capaldi open the weekend on Thursday. Friday was the mystery slot, and the organisers were right to be smug about it: Jennifer Lopez headlines, with Alex Warren, the voice behind "Ordinary", on the same bill for his UAE debut. This is her third Abu Dhabi show in under 2 years, which tells you how the last two went. Imagine Dragons take the Saturday headline slot. And Sunday has something for both halves of your group: The Chainsmokers for the ones who came to dance, The Script for the ones who came to sing along and feel things.

The Real Numbers

Do the maths and the four-day ticket is the quiet steal of December. Because the concerts are baked into the race pass, you are essentially buying a four-night festival with the motorsport thrown in, or the racing with a festival thrown in, depending entirely on your priorities. If your crew is here for the music more than the machines, a general-admission weekend pass sorts your whole calendar. Want to be close enough to read the setlist? Golden Circle upgrades are there, and the earlier you book, the better the tier you land.

And for the ones who are not ready to go home on Friday: the official after-party on 4 December is Anyma presenting ÆDEN at Yas Gateway Park, his huge, cinematic visual show. Heads up, this one is ticketed separately from the race, so your wristband will not get you in.

Mariah Carey brings Christmas to Etihad Arena

Every year, somewhere around 1 November, a woman in a sequinned gown announces that it is time, and the entire planet agrees. Mariah Carey brings Mariah Carey's Christmastime to Etihad Arena on Saturday 12 December, doors at 7pm, with her festive catalogue, the big hits and, yes, "All I Want For Christmas Is You", which is now stuck in your head because of this sentence. Sorry.

Christmas in the UAE is a lovely, slightly surreal thing: tinsel in the malls, a tree in every hotel lobby, and 25 degrees outside. Of course this is where the Queen of Christmas does it in a fully air-conditioned arena. It falls the Saturday after Grand Prix weekend, so Yas Island gets one more very big night before the year winds down. Tickets start from AED 249.

Dopa World: the homegrown festival closing out the year

And to see the year out with something properly, unmistakably ours. Dopa World sets up at Jubilee Park in Expo City from 18 to 20 December, gates from 4pm, for three days of Arab music and culture turned all the way up. This is exactly the sort of homegrown event I will happily drag every visitor to, because it is a real flex of the region's own sound.

Saint Levant, the Palestinian-Algerian artist whose blend of Arabic, hip-hop and R&B has charmed the entire planet, is confirmed to headline Saturday 19 December. Ziad Zaza opens the festival on Friday 18 December, and Sunday 20 December is still under wraps, with the closing name due to be revealed soon.

Insider Tip

Early-bird passes open around AED 245, and festival prices have only ever learned to move in one direction. If a three-day ticket is even a maybe, catch the early tier before it grows a more ambitious price tag.

Katy Perry sees in 2027 at Atlantis, The Palm

And then there is the way to end the whole year. Katy Perry headlines the Under the Stars Gala Dinner at Atlantis, The Palm on 31 December, on an outdoor stage built for the night, with fireworks closing out 2026 over the Palm. A night that ends in fireworks with no "Firework" would feel like a missed opportunity. I am just saying.

Let me be straight with you: this is a black-tie gala, priced like one, with seats from AED 8,500 per adult (14 and over) and the Golden Circle from AED 14,500. It is not the casual option. But if you were already planning a proper New Year's Eve dinner somewhere, the sums look very different when the headliner is Katy Perry and the view is the Palm. Younger guests get a party area of their own, so the kids are not trapped at a table of grown-ups talking about property prices.
